ENERGY WORK

REIKI pronounced Ray Key) Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Administered by laying on hands, Reiki is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

HIGH TOUCH-JIN SHIN A gentle and noninvasive therapy, Jin Shin follows the ancient principles of oriental energy therapy. Sharing many of the same concepts upon which acupuncture is based. Jin Shin utilizes our own innate vital life force. It is a physio-philosophy that involves the application of the hands for gently balancing the flow of life energy in the body; more generally.

Jin Shin is not a physical manipulation of tissue and does not require you to disrobe. Using only minimal pressure, the hands are used as "jumper cables," contacting 26 "safety energy locks" to redirect, or unblock the flow of energy along its pathways. This enables the energy to circulate to whatever depth the person needs, accessing all levels of the energy flow to promote healing.

LOMI LOMI The traditional massage modality of Hawaii, Lomi-Lomi is an ancient form of massage with a deeply spiritual component. Once, only available in the Hawaiian Islands, Lomi-Lomi can now be experienced world-wide.

Lomi-Lomi was initially practiced by family members, native healers, warriors and servants of royalty. The truly authentic Lomi-Lomi practice incorporates breath work. The Lomi-Lomi therapist breathes deeply, and encourages the guest to use specific breathing patterns. Deeper aspects of the practice involve forgiveness and letting go of resentment. Called ho'oponopono, this is available only from the most skilled practitioners working in private settings.

THERAPEUTIC TOUCH Therapeutic Touch was developed in the early 1970's by Dolores Krieger, PhD, RN, and Dora Van Gelder Kunz. At first, Therapeutic Touch involved setting the hands lightly on the body of the patient, but the method rapidly evolved into the non-contact, "energy healing" method practiced today. TT is available in mainstream health care facilities including hospices, hospital-based alternative health programs, and even ICU's.

The purpose of Therapeutic Touch is to remove the irregularities of the energy field which cause dis-ease. Both as a preventative mechanism and as a treatment for manifested illness, Therapeutic touch practitioners attempt to smooth out irregularities in the human energy field and attempt to center the energies of the individual. Diverting excess energies back into the environment, the therapist will channel some of the limitless energy of the environment through themselves to "jump start" the weakened energies of the individual. Re-centering and smoothing is the operative technique of therapeutic touch; the practitioner is not actually healing the patient, instead orienting the patient's body correctly so that it operates at peak levels of efficiency.
